Why do I need a website for bike rides in Ozaukee County?
There are challenges to experiencing a safe and enjoyable ride in most areas and Ozaukee County is no exception.
A cyclist needs to avoid busy highways with dangerous levels of motor vehicle pressure; find bike friendly crossings over rivers, x-ways,
and railroads; and find food and rest facilities at convenient points in a ride.
The primary goal of Ozaukee Bike Routes is to direct bicyclists to the best Ozaukee County has to offer while avoiding any traffic and route problems.
Is the Ozaukee Bike Routes website produced by an agency of the Ozaukee County government?
No. This website is independently produced although it had it's genesis in the Interurban Trail Advisory Committee meetings as a way to add variety for trail riders.
It is also referenced in some Ozaukee County websites and publications.
Ozaukee Bike Routes hopes to contribute to Ozaukee County tourism efforts where cycling is involved.
Are there any fees or other cost associated with using this website?
No, this is strictly a non-profit, volunteer project. At some point, we may sell a tee shirt or jersey if there is sufficient interest. But, currently there are no such plans.
Are there any group rides or other events sponsored by this website
We have had a few group rides in the past and they were very enjoyable.
Going forward, the intent is to provide a mechanism for group rides that are organized by website users.
We have a forum website that is open for cyclists to post group rides for our routes.
Do I need to join Ride with GPS to use the maps and cue sheets?
No, you can access the maps and cue sheets for free. However, there are some additional benefits if you sign up as a member of their site.
It's also a very worthwhile site to support financially.
